The Second Rebirth

The Awakening returned magic to the world and empowered the Amerind tribes who created the Native American Nation. When Daniel Howling Coyote led the breakout from the Abilene re-education camp and began the Great Ghost Dance, the tribes that existed at the time were those who negotiated the Treaty of Denver and were given land, sovereignty, and a place on the world stage.

Over the years since the Treaty of Denver, many new tribes have become resurrected, either through a cultural rebirth, or through reclaimed cultural memory as a side-effect of the continued Awakening. Often these tribes were extinct or nearly extinct prior to 2018, and their rebirth can be related to Goblinization. This “second rebirth” of Amerind tribes has been a growing problem among both the Native American Nations, and the non-NAN states on the continent. Some Second Rebirth Tribes have been accepted into states like the Pueblo Corporate Council, and the Salish-Shidhe Council, but many remain as second-tier communities or unrecognized.

Most of the Second Rebirth Tribes are comprised of Orks and Trolls, who are using their newfound cultural identity as a form of solidarity to resist institutional discrimination. In the California Free State especially, 30+ years of oppression under General Saito’s application of Imperial Japan’s Metahuman policy of apartheid against metahumans, especially Orks and Trolls.
